My first design was being made for an landscape photography so I decided to have the image as the background of both spreads. I also added in the title at the top of the page using a bold font so that it stands out. 

I found that my previous image was too busy and was quite a low quality image, so I started to try out different images. 

It was hard to see the text with the white boxes so I slightly changed the colour to a light orange/pink so that the white will stand out more.

I thought that the title look too plain, so I put the two words closer together and changed the colour of the word photography to a pastel pink.

This was going to be another two collum design and this time I wanted to have one page as the image and the other for the text. 

After adding my image I added the title at the top of the page.

I drew out 6 different layout designs, two designs for a two column spread, a threecolumn  spread and four column spread.

I drew out a range of different masthead ideas that i could potentially use for my final masthead.

In the end i chose these 7 typefaces that i wanted to experiment with for my masthead.

Development

I do really like this design and think it flows well, however i don't think that it works well for a photography magazine.

Although i do like the idea of incorporating the lens into the O, the type really doesn't work very well or look too good.

Again another version of a lens image that i placed as the O, although it is the same problem and i think that i need to  try out different fonts.

I tried my design in this new font that i do like much more.

For this design i decided to more from the O and start to manipulate the C instead. I do like this masthead design, although i think the font is too thick for a photography style magazine.

I like how the font is thin and spread out in this design which gives this masthead a photography/fashion feel.

This is one of mt favourite designs, however i don't know how well this will work on a actual cover.

This is a simple design however i think it is eye catching and i like how the font is thin but bold at the same time.

This masthead was just  something i quickly put together and i don't think it would be too suitable for my photography theme.

I made some slight changes the my chosen masthead such as used capital locks and adjusted the spacing.

To start off my magazine i first needed to come up with a name to fit my chose subject, photography. I made a quick brainstorm of a couple name that i liked and in the end chose that i will use Focus as my magazine name.
