On illustrator I created a variety of different designs for my folios.

I decided that I wanted to go with my rounded square design as it is clear and simple.

I am using photoshop to make my front cover, and I started off with my image as the background and having the masthead placed across the top.

I then added a blending mode to the masthead and played around with the transparency.

I wanted the main focus to be on the masthead so I made the image black and white.

A lot of magazines use a feature such as eyes or lips as a focal point which I thought was a good idea, so I decided to colour her lips in a pinky shade similar to the masthead.

Using the selection tool I selected my masthead and cropped the masthead out of the picture.

I played around with the curves and levels of the masthead so that I could make it more darker to stand out more.

Next I added in my barcode that I created.

I moved on to adding a bit of text to the lower left hand corner.

I wanted to add some colour to top tips so that it would stand out, I also used the same colour as the lips

Next was final touches where I added in the price placing it just above the barcode.

Spread Designs

My first design was being made for an landscape photography so I decided to have the image as the background of both spreads. I also added in the title at the top of the page using a bold font so that it stands out. 

I found that my previous image was too busy and was quite a low quality image, so I started to try out different images. 

It was hard to see the text with the white boxes so I slightly changed the colour to a light orange/pink so that the white will stand out more.

I thought that the title look too plain, so I put the two words closer together and changed the colour of the word photography to a pastel pink.

This was going to be another two collum design and this time I wanted to have one page as the image and the other for the text. 

After adding my image I added the title at the top of the page.
